Our Family Day has just concluded. A big shout out to the amazing team of Basil and Benjamin, Elaine and Janet, Arlene and Helen, Jaden and Melanie who put together this wonderful event of food, fun and frolic for our Cathedral. Thank you to all stall owners for your dedicated service and all who participated, thank you for your support.

Some have enquired on the progress of the renovation. The tasks are rather simple. 1. Change the roof. 2. Retile the floor and raise the sanctuary. 3. Construct new pews.
The roof has been changed. The retiling of the floor and raising the sanctuary is in progress. A prototype of the new pews has arrived for viewing. We have 208 pews and we are asking that you join in this renovation project by adopting a pew. We asking a minimum of RM5000 to adopt a pew. You may choose to donate more. With your adoption, the pew will be dedicated your name or the names of those you choose to memorialise.
You can view the pew in St Mary’s Square.

主内平安！ 有些人询问装修工程的进展情况。工程相当简单。1. 更换屋顶。2. 重新铺设地砖及把祭台升高。3. 更换新的长椅。
屋顶已经更换好了。重新铺设地砖和把祭台升高的工作正在进行中。新长椅的样本已经送来以供大家查看。我们需要208张新的长椅，我们希望您能通过认捐一张长椅来参与这项装修工程。我们要求至少以RM5,000认捐一张长椅。您也可以选择捐赠更多。您认捐的长椅将以您的名字或您选择想要纪念的人的名字命名。
您可以在圣母亭查看新长椅的样本。

Thank you for bearing with the inconveniences of the renovation. The moment to close the Adoration Room has arrived. The current Sacristy will be remodelled and it will absorb the present Adoration Room. The enlarged Sacristy will feature proper and necessary changing rooms for the altar servers.

We are by no means quiet. A few events are lined up for the coming weeks. The first event is on 18th May at 5 pm. This is both an announcement and also an appeal. Please note that there will be NO Novena before Mass on that Saturday. It has been cancelled as most of St James’ Hall will be cordoned off for the 5 pm Mass. The simple reason is that the entire Hall will be reserved for the families of the confirmands. Those who have no children attending catechism are encouraged to attend the 7 pm Mass which will be a bilingual celebration.

Some have asked why provide the possibility of baptism by immersion. According to Canon Law, the Sacrament of Baptism can be done either through immersion or through pouring.
The legal language that describes the celebration of the sacrament actually indicates that the preferred mode of baptism by the Church is through immersion even though Catholics tend to associate immersion as a “Protestant” preference.

The renovation is gathering pace. The entire roof will be changed from the Cathedral proper to the Annex which houses St James’ Hall. Even St Mary’s Square needs a new canopy. We will instal a big fan that will help to circulate air for better comfort of those spending time with Our Lady.

St James’ Hall will be our centre of worship for the coming months. We want to provide a space that is conducive to worship. For example, the back drop of the altar. Sometimes, a concept and its reality do not coincide. As you can see, the backdrop was meant to suggest a Cross on the mountain with a background shrouded in mist that looks into infinity. However, the reality is different.

We arrived yesterday evening, hearts bursting with thanksgiving to the Lord for His blessings upon us. Despite the 2nd day Raya traffic and yesterday’s rain, we managed to visit the intended Churches along the pilgrim route.
