Dear brothers and sisters
Peace!
We usually have Adoration on Thursday with the possibility of going for Confession. Ever since the Pandemic, the Cathedral is not recorded in the catalogue of South Johore’s Advent and Lent Penitential services. Instead what we offer is the possibility of regular Confessions.
At all weekend Masses, (5:00pm Sat, 7:45am, 10:15am, 12:30pm, g6:00pm Sun), the priest (sometimes 2 priests) is (are) available at least 30 minutes before Mass starts to hear Confession. A reason for making Confessions easily available is because the need for it arises as soon as one is conscious that there is mortal sin involved and that means waiting for penitential service whilst receiving Holy Communion amounts to a grave sin of sacrilege.
4th March Wednesday.
Adoration between 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The priest is available to hear Confession until 8:55pm. Benediction at 9:00pm.
5th March. Thursday.
Mass at 7:00pm. Followed by 24-hour Adoration.
The priest is available to hear Confession until 9:00pm.
6th March. Friday.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 6:15pm followed by Stations of the Cross. Mass at 7:00pm. Two things will happen after Mass. Firstly, there will be Adoration. At 8:30pm the Stations of the Cross in Mandarin begin. At its conclusion there will be Benediction. In the meantime, the priest will hear Confession until the time for Benediction.
Finally, during Holy Week we will have Adoration, Confession and Benediction on 30th and 31st.
Right now, we have all the more reason to come and pray before the Lord. War has broken out in the Persian Gulf. We should pray for an end to hostilities so that lives may not be lost unnecessarily. And that families now separated by the conflict may be reunited. There is a lot to pray for. So from now until then, have a blessed Lent.
God bless.
Padre
